Dear Parent/Guardian

The KTS Ski Trip for Easter 2020 is now open and we plan to go to the resort of Winter Park, Colorado, USA. This is a resort we have been to a couple of times and has proved hugely successful with excellent snow conditions, weather and activities. We will be staying in the “Vintage Hotel”.

The trip is open to all pupils. The cost of the trip will be £1560, which will include all travel, insurance, hotel accommodation, hire of ski equipment, a lift pass, ski lessons all day, and all evening entertainment such as skating, bowling, cinema etc.

If you would like your son/daughter to participate in this trip, please pay the non-refundable deposit of £150 by 18th January 2019.  Our preferred method of payment is by   in which case no reply slip is needed, as we will take your payment as parental consent.  If you pay by cheque (payable to Knights Templar School) or by cash, please complete the reply slip below and return it to the Finance office with the payment, in an envelope marked with your child’s name, tutor group and Ski trip 2020 clearly marked on it.  Once a place has been allocated on the trip, the deposit becomes non-refundable, unless a replacement can be found.

A second deposit of £300 will be due by 11th March 2019 and then further instalments:

  • £400 by 21st June 2019

  • £400 by 13th September 2019

  • £370 (£448 if over 16*) by 20th December 2019

This trip has a limited number of places and may be oversubscribed.  If so, we will draw names out of a ballot and put remaining students on a waiting list.  We do not operate a “first come, first served” policy.  In line with all trips operated by the school, attendance on this excursion is a privilege and consideration may be made of a student’s past and/or present record of behaviour. If it is deemed to be inconsistent with that which we would expect, then the student may be removed from the trip and the deposit will be repaid.

If your son/daughter is allocated a place then further details will follow.  I will also be organising an information evening for parents/carers to attend prior to departure.

If you wish to speak to me, please feel free to call me at the school.

Yours sincerely

Mrs K Curtis

Ski Trips

Every year, the school operates a ski trip to a resort in either Europe or North America (on alternate years). These trips mostly go away during the Easter break, but can occasionally go over the February half term. They are led by Mrs Curtis who is the first contact for these trips.

The trips are open to all pupils in the school from year 7 upwards and notification of the opening of these trips will be given to pupils via a notice at school. This will often be well over a year in advance of the venture and details will appear on the school's website, the school calendar or by notices using the standard mechanisims within school. Places on these trips will be allocated on a 'first-come first-served' basis although a pupil's behaviour and attendance may also be taken into account. These trips are always very popular and are almost always over subscribed to the extent that there will be a reserve list for those who hand in their applications forms later than others.

A meeting for parents will always be held, usually in the autumn term before the trip takes place.
